Past Cooking Vacations
Puglia is incredibly rich in culture, food, and history, and it can be hard to crack the superficial layer that’s offered by mass tourism. Authentic Food Quest allowed me to see what’s beyond, and it definitely made a difference. – Chris
Culinary Experiences
The culinary vacation experiences were true farm-to-table moments. Highlights included visits to local markets and artisan vendors to pick up fresh ingredients for our cooking classes. Tastings at a historic winery and learning about olive oil brought us closer to Puglia’s culinary traditions.
Savoring Traditional Foods
Puglia’s vibrant flavors and local wines enhanced the experience. Beyond the kitchen, we savored a wide variety of Puglia’s signature dishes. A favorite street food was “Puccia.” These are sandwiches stuffed with vegetables, seafood, prosciutto, and more. Fresh seafood was always a good option, and gelato for dessert never disappointed.
Cooking Vacation Excursions
Cultural excursions deepened our appreciation of southern Italy. Some of our favorite activities included a private boat ride, exploring the world-famous Zinzulusa Caves, and visiting an important ceramic factory. In the beautiful cities of Otranto, Gallipoli, and Lecce, we soaked in Puglia’s rich history and cultural heritage.
Cooking Vacation Reviews
Authentic Food Quest introduced me to a new way of traveling: respecting the region’s pace, immersing myself in local life, and being with like-minded people. It is challenging to get off the beaten track, and their curation made the experience feel complete and well-rounded. – Chris
Living on the farm, observing daily life, and getting to be around the family for me, were as significant as the cooking. It’s a rare opportunity to be in a foreign country and to have non-touristy, genuine experiences. – Susan
I was afraid this trip would involve formal dining, buffet tables, and everything touristy. Instead, we felt included in a family for a week. We definitely felt that we were way off the tourist track without sacrificing the usual comforts and all the likely excursions. – Len
Overall, it was wonderful. This was quite a fantastic experience in every way. I particularly enjoyed the immersive experience with a family at the farmhouse. – John
